In any season, beauty and peace surround you.
This home reflects its owner's lifelong dream to live in the mountains. It has a special name: Theatiki - a Potawatomi word for "River of the Wolf" and the original name for my home town of Kankakee, IL. But Theatiki is only 3 miles from the world-renowned Blue Ridge Parkway and 8 miles from vibrant and creative downtown Asheville.
Constructed in 2005 from British Columbian Lodgepole Pine and finished to perfection with Canadian cedar windows and doors, it has been built to last for generations. Once the logs were assembled, the house dictated its own interior finishes such as wide-plank floors of South American Mahogany, a chef's kitchen with alder and cedar cabinetry and granite countertops, hand finished built-ins and trim work. It includes a whole-house sound system with equipment, a two-car garage in the lower level with extra storage and workspace, a propane furnace in addition to the heat pump, central air, and propane generator.
For weeks during our (mostly sunny) winters the afternoon light pours through the south-facing windows and fills the nearly 50 foot expanse to the front door.
In any season, there is beauty inside and out.......
